This Year's Theme

This year, the theme that we will be using is Equality. You can write about anything that you want, as long as it ties into the theme. Points will be awarded for how close your poem fits with the theme as well as many other categories such as engagement, storyline and originality. Be creative; let the thoughts in your mind flow onto the page.

Age groups

To make thigs fair, we have split all contestants into three age groups: Junior, Intermediate and Senior.  Junior is from children aged under 10, Intermediate is from 10-18 year olds and  Senior is for adults aged 18 and over. All levels of experience are welcome in this competition. Just try writing some poetry and what comes out may surprise you!

Important competition dates

Make sure to submit your poems on time and keep note of the key milestones for this year's charity poetry competition.

Submissions open

1st October. Entries open online across all age categories. Submit your original poem along with the £2 entry fee in support of our charity cause.

Closing deadline

30th November at midnight. All entries must be received before the deadline to be reviewed and considered by our judging panel.

Winners announced

15th December. The shortlisted poems and category winners will be announced on our website and notified directly by email.
